This article discusses recent animal trials in which CCZ, an antihistamine used to treat allergies since the 1940s, showed promise for the treatment of Hepatitis C. Rather than blocking virus replication, this drug blocks the virus from even entering liver cells. Human trials will elucidate whether or not the drug has the same effect in humans, but if it does, CCZ could be available to Hepatitis C patients for as little as $0.50 per tablet.
